The Third Bil’in Conference on Grassroots Non-Violent Resistance, which was held in the village of Bil’in near Ramallah, was widely attended by officials and citizens alike, including Prime Minister Salam Fayyad, the representative of President Abbas, members of the PLO Executive Committee, members of the Palestinian National Council, and representatives of various political parties and civil society groups.
There was also international participation, including delegations of peace activists from France, Italy, Spain, Germany, England, Canada, Ireland, Greece, Switzerland, the United States and the Netherlands, in addition to Israeli peace activists.

The final day of the conference was concluded with a protest against the wall in Bilin. The protest began from the center of the town where the conference was located with a majority of those attending the conference also participating in the protest. Among the participants were Israeli Peace Activists, members of the Palestinian Parliament, including Qais Abu Laila, Moheeb Awad, Walid Asaf, and Mustafa Barghouti.

The Third international conference on popular resistance which was held in Bil’in for the third year in a row, was concluded on Friday with a press conference followed by a nonviolent protest against the wall.
Around midday, the participants of the conference went to watch a football match between the villagers of Bil’in and the international participants of the conference near the wall. The football game, which coincided with the start of the European Championship tournament, was, according to Abdullah Abu Rahme, the conference moderator, a message to the world that Israel, also denies the Palestinians the right to play. Soon after the match started, Israeli troops showered the players with a number of tear gas bombs which forced them to stop the match. A number of the players and the spectators were treated for gas inhalation.

Vice President of the European Parliament Luisa Morgantini and Irish Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Mairead Corrigan-Maguire were hurt Friday after inhaling tear gas during an anti-security fence protest in the West Bank village of Bil’in.
