The village of Bil’in has launched a lawsuit against two Montreal-based companies (Green Park and Green Mount) who are building and selling houses in the occupied territories. Under international law, settlements in occupied lands are illegal. This means that the actions of the two companies contravene the Geneva Convention.

[Ha’aretz] Last Thursday an indictment was served at the Military Court in Tel Aviv against Lt. Col. Omri Borberg and against the soldier under his command who at a range of less than half a meter, fired a rubber bullet at the legs of a shackled and blindfolded Palestinian.

Border Guard uses ‘Skunk’ as new crowd-dispersal means

[YNet] The Border Guard has begun using a new means of contending with riots coined "Skunk”. The police developed this new method for scattering violent demonstrations and tested its effectivity in the last demonstration which took place in the West Bank village of Naalin. Use of the “Skunk” is by means of an especially foul-smelling liquid spraying machine.

Fury after Israeli officer in charge of prisoner's shooting is 'reassigned'

[The Independent] Outraged Israeli human rights organisations have united in challenging the military’s decision to invoke only minor penalties against a senior officer over the shooting of a bound and blindfolded Palestinian prisoner by a soldier under his command.

Lt-Col Omri Burberg has been "reassigned" and was indicted yesterday on the limited charge of "unworthy conduct" after the incident last month in which he held the Palestinian as the soldier shot him at close range in the foot with a rubber-coated bullet. The offence does not carry a custodial sentence.
