Bassem Abu Rahme killed in Bil'in weekly protest

Bassem Abu Rahme was killed in Bil’in weekly protest. He was shot with new kind of tear gaz canisters (The Rocket). He was shot in his chest which lead to his death immediately. He participated in the weekly protest and was standing in the other side of the wall, and was shouting at the soldiers “we are in a nonviolent protest, there are kids and internationals” he couldn’t continue his scrim and was shot. He was transferred to Ramallah governmental hospital, but he was dead. The funeral will be tomorrow in the village of Bilin at 1:00 pm.

Following Friday prayers in Bil’in today, residents held a protest against the wall and settlement building. A group of children from the village were at the front of the protest holding Palestinian flags and banners remarking International Children’s Day. Some banners said “It’s our right to live safely”, “The wall kills our hopes and dreams”, “Settlements and the wall leave us with no future”. There were also pictures of children with the caption “Wanted by the Israeli occupation for resisting the wall”.

Within a week of Land Day the residents of the village of Bil’in came after Friday prayers today in a massive march called by the Popular Committee Against the Wall in the village to mark the thirty-third day of the immortal land, participated in the march a group of international and Israeli peace activists.

The residents of Bil’in marched towards the wall today after the Friday prayer. The protest was called by the popular committee against the wall remarking the 33rd anniversary of Land Day. Protesters carried banners condemning Israeli’s ongoing racist policies, some of these banners say: “Unity against land confiscation”, “Stop home demolishing” and “Free Palestinian political prisoners”.

Protesters carried a huge banner remarking the 41st anniversary of Al-Karama. Banners condemning Israeli’s ongoing racist policies and violence against civilians, especially in Jerusalem where Palestinians are facing ethnic cleansing were also carried.
