Santa Claus Against The Wall in Bil'in

Bil’in residents left after the Friday prayer in a march joined by international and Israeli peace activists. Waving Palestinian flags, and banners against the Israeli occupation. The protest today was solidarity with Palestinian families inside Israeli jails especially Juma’a Muosa’s family and Ahmad Sa’dat and Ofers’ detainees. The Popular committee condemned the violence against the detainees inside Israeli prisons.

Protesters throw shoes at Israeli soldiers in Bil’in

Demonstrators marched today after the Friday prayer carrying Palestinian flags and banners calling to end the Israeli occupation, stop the wall and settlement building, stop land confiscation and settler attacks, closures and roadblocks, and the release of all detainees. The demonstration was joined by internationals and Israeli activists. Members of the Peoples’ Struggle Front also joined the protest today and carried banners.

High Court of Justice: the new route in Bil'ín is also illegal

In a rare decision released today (December 15, 2008), the HCJ ruled that the second amended route of the barrier proposed by the State in the lands of Bil’in is also illegal. Judges Beinish, Rivlin and Prokachya concluded that the proposed route violates the Court ruling from September 2007, and ordered the State to pay the residents of Bil’in legal expenses of 10,000 shekels.

Israeli Troops Suppress Non Violent Demonstrations in Bil'in and Ni'lin

The people of Bil’in statred a demonstration after Friday’s prayers that included international and Israeli activists, as well as a community from the Bethlehem district. The demonstrators raised Palestinian flags and rang bells for the anniversary of the first Palestinian Intifada that occurred in 1987.

Army invasion

Tonight around 21:30, few jeeps of the army entered the village and started to provoke clashes. They arrested 3 shabab youngsters and took them beyond the fence. Many people tried to prevent it and followed them up to the fence. The soldiers used tear gas, sound grenades and maybe even live bullets. The situation near the fence became very dangerous and about 22:30 an army officer came and the 3 were released.
