by Bil’in Popular Committee
Today Martin Luther King III came to visit Bil’in, together with the Realizing the Dream, Inc. team. This international nonprofit organization is devoted to continuing the nonviolent work of Dr. King into the 21st century.
When they arrived in Tel Aviv, the team immediately headed for Bil’in.
Johnny J. Mack, the executive vice president and chief operating officer of Realizing the Dream, Inc., explained how they try to support nonviolent resistance in Bil’in.
After showing movies about the weekly demonstrations and actions to resist the occupation, the Popular Committee asked the team to join the next demonstration. They were enthusiastic and showed willingness to try to work it into their program.
Tomorrow, the team has organized a conference on nonviolence in Israel and the Palestinian Territories, which will bring together peace-minded individuals from different communities to discuss how Dr. King’s legacy of nonviolence can play a positive role in the region.
