Hundreds of international and Israeli peace activists participated on Friday in Bil’in village weekly demonstration central West Bank.
As is the case each week the people left the village after the midday prayers and headed towards the gate of the wall separating Bil’in from its lands.
The Israeli military attacked the protesters with tear gas, sound bombs and rubber coated steal bullets. Scores suffered the effects of tear gas inhalation.
Among those who took part of the weekly protest in Friday were Dove Hannen, and Israeli MP from the Democratic Front for Peace and Equality.
After four and a half years when Bil’in has started its resistance against the wall and settlements, the Israeli army is trying by all means to break down the demonstrations, hence they killed the popular leader Basem Abu Rahmah, injured 1300 people and arrested 70.
In the last two months Bil’in was targeted by violent offensive by the occupation forces , including the night raids and arrests the leaders of the People’s Committee of and persecution them everywhere.
As 25 people were arrested, eighteen of them are still in prison till this moment ; together with the two leaders Mohammed al-Khatib and Adib Abu Rahma. However, as a part of the solidarity with Bil’in village, hundreds of international and Israeli peace activists replied the People’s Committee’s call to resist the wall and for releasing all prisoners.
On the other hand, the military court in O’fer has ordered hundred days (open check) until the completion of an investigation on both Issa Abu Rahma, and the two brothers Khalid and Muhammad Shaukat Khatib.
While the court postponed the order on Abdullah Yassin, Mustafa Khatib, Mohammad Abdul Karim Al-Khatib; the members of the popular committee on Sunday.
The court hearing which was held yesterday in the O’fer prison, was attended by each Mr.Dov Hanin the Kenest member from the Democratic Front for Peace and Equality, Uri Avnery the head of the peace group, and of Arc Asher the head of Rapanem, the Movement for human rights, in addition to a number of international and Israeli activists who came to Bil’in to solidarity with the detainees.
