Eight wounded in Bilin peaceful demo against the Wall

8 demonstrators were injured in Bil’in village by Occupation bullets during a weekly demonstration which is organized by the Popular Committee Resisting the Wall in the village, at the same time, Information Minister Mustafa Al Burghouthi called for broader massive and popular loop against the Apartheid Wall and Jewish settlement activities during a sit-in held on expropriated lands in Wadi Rahal in Bethlehem city.

Four peaceful protestors arrested in Bil’in on Rachel Corrie anniversary

Two Palestinians from Bil’in and two Israeli peace activists were arrested today at Bil’in as the IOF stepped up their crackdown on peaceful protest in the village.

Members of the Popular Committee Against the Wall in Bil’in Ratib Abu Rahme and Mohammed Katib, who has just returned from a speaking tour in the US, were taken to the police station with Israeli activists Kobi Snitz and Shai Pollack, who directed the film about the village’s campaign of non-violent resistance ‘Bil’in Habibti’. They were all released three hours later.

This week’s demonstration was marked by a return to past strategy on the army’s side, and an escalation of the attempt to suppress the voice of dissent in Bil’in. As protesters marched towards the wall, they had spotted the usual provocative presence of border policemen inside the built up area of the village. From afar, they had also noticed that the line of soldiers isn’t by the gate, but rather on the road about a hundred meters from the wall. As the march came closer it became obvious that razor wire was stretched across the road to prevent passage.

Two hospitalised at Bil’in as IOF lash out

Two peaceful protesters today paid the price for standing in solidarity with the villagers of Bilin to protest the theft of their land when they were attacked and had to be carried to an ambulance for evacuation. Ben received a blow to the forehead from a rifle butt whilst a sound bomb was thrown at Jonathan’s foot, which exploded on his shoe leaving him unable to walk.

Some 150 Palestinian, Israeli and international activists gathered in Bil’in today for the weekly demonstration against the wall. Some women demonstrators marched towards the path of the wall holding signs that marked yesterday’s International Women’s Day.
